Pre- Teen/Early Teen Program (Individual)
For individuals with Down syndrome or other Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities between the ages of 10 and 15. This program is designed to provide the individual with language and an understanding of the internal and external changes in the human body during puberty. It also provides families with language and resources for facilitating learning and conversations at home and teaches them how to bridge these skills to school. All information is presented in a factual, medically accurate, and developmentally appropriate way. However, the content delivered is based on the “need to knows” related to the child’s physical age. Topics include:
Introduction to Private vs. Public
Body Parts and Privacy
Puberty 101
People in My Life
Crushes and Sexual Feelings
Understanding Boundaries
Mental Wellness
Abuse Prevention
Fee: $125/hour (minimum of 10 hours required)
Payment options: Private pay or California Self- Determination Program
Location: In- Person (San Marino Office) or Virtual
