Older Teen Program (Individual)

For individuals with Down syndrome or other Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities between the ages of 15 and 17 (or have previously completed a Comprehensive Sexual Health Education course).  This program is designed to provide the individual with language and more in depth understanding of puberty and sexuality. It also provides families with language and resources for facilitating learning and conversations.  All information is presented in a factual, medically accurate, and developmentally appropriate way. However, the content delivered is based on the “need to knows” related to the individual’s physical age. This program is adapted from the framework and curriculum from the Elevatus (https://www.elevatustraining.com/) program. 

Topics include:

• Gender Identity & Expression/ Expressing Yourself

• Different Types of Relationships

• Public & Private: Relationship and Touch

• Friendship

• Communication

• Decision Making

• Moving from Friend to Partner/Sweetheart

• Internet, Social Media & Communication

• Abuse Prevention

Fee: $125/hour (minimum of 10 hours required)

Payment options: Private pay or California Self- Determination Program
